The old Lord Vasil’s (The Numbers) was known as a bit of a rough place in its day. In 2006, there was a shooting and stabbing at the bar that led to it being mentioned as one of the Worcester Police Department’s main “problem bars” in the city. Then, earlier this year, the space underwent a transformation into the new Club Universe, complete with windows instead of faux brick, a flashing LED sign above Park Avenue, and a new interior. Still, it looks like some of the old problems remain. According to reports, a 19-year-old was stabbed after getting into a late night fight outside the bar; his injuries were not life-threatening.
A chip off the old block
You never know what kind of evidence is going to nab a suspect. For 23-year-old Tyrease Slaughter of Framingham, it was his late night snack that proved his undoing, according to the Metrowest Daily News. After midnight on Monday night, Framingham officer John Hiadousis stopped to check on the homeless Slaughter, and noticed he was munching a from a bag of Utz Mystic chips. So, less than an hour later, when he reported to the scene of a break in at a local convenience store, he was immediately suspicious when he noticed a bag of the same brand of chips sitting near the door. One problem, at least for Slaughter: The convenience store didn’t sell that brand. Surveillance footage confirmed Slaughter had thrown a trash barrel through the window before stealing some change and pornographic magazines; he was later caught sleeping in a car with the magazines and money stuffed down his pants. o

It could be about that guy with pot in his socks at the courthouse, or about that lady with her 10th DUI arrest this year. Let us know.
