Changing your name doesn’t make your rap sheet any shorter. Take 20-year-old Nghiep V. Pham, also known as Nick Pham, also known as Huy Nguyen. He’s serving three concurrent six-month terms at the Worcester House of Corrections for charged with larceny over $250, receiving stolen property under $250, and shoplifting; he also faced charges for giving a false name to police. But he’s had trouble under multiple names. As Nghiep Pham, he faced charges of aggravated assault and battery with a knife in 2006; later that year, he was charged with larceny from persons, disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace and giving a false name to police. As Nick Pham, he faced 2006 charges of assault and battery and intimidation of a witness, and later sentenced to 60 days to be served in jail.
Get lifted
Even worse than Pham is Holly Muniz, who was charged this week with two counts of shoplifting. It’s hard to tell exactly how many times Muniz has faced similar charges; she has a record dating back to at least 1996, when courthouse records indicate she was fined $155 for her second shoplifting offense. After another shoplifting charge, she was in court again in 1997 for breaking and entering in the daytime with intent to commit a misdemeanor, larceny of property, two counts of being a disorderly person, disturbing the peace, assault and battery on a police officer and evading a taxi fare. In 2000, it was breaking and entering in the nighttime with intent to commit a felony, larceny of property, receiving stolen property and malicious destruction of property; later that year was a heroin possession charge. Since then, there have been at least two other shoplifting charges, an armed robbery charge and multiple arrests for prostitution and heroin possession.
All wet
And this week’s Odd A&B Of the Week award goes to Milton Rivera of Worcester who is now on probation after being charged with assaulting his victim with…a water bottle.
Have a tip? Maybe you’ve been arrested, or maybe you’re a cop, court official, or witness with a good story to tell. It could be about that guy with pot in his socks at the courthouse, or about that lady with her 10th DUI arrest this year. Let us know.
