• Filling the vacated Club Car: For more than a year, the former home of The Club Car on Water Street has been vacant, leaving many to wonder who’s going to fill the spot in this happening district. Signs point to Club Cava Doro, which, according to the License Commission, is being opened by Peter and Katherine Tsigas, who also own Café Neo on Millbury Street. Repeated calls to the Tsigases were unreturned by press time.
• Dining by music: Adding to the popular weekend dinners at Lucky’s Café on Grove Street, live music now complements the delicious dishes. Charles Ketter plays guitar and sings on Fridays from 5-9 p.m. at Lucky’s. As always, it’s BYOB, and moderately priced.
• Bakery queen: Alice Lombardi, who owns two locations of The Bean Counter, just purchased Black Diamond Coffee in Shrewsbury. The successful coffee shop and meeting place will now most certainly be offering those famous Bean Counter pastry products.
• Apple season’s upon us: And Marshall Farm in Fitchburg is ripe for the picking, just opening last week. Visit the farm to pick apples on weekends, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., through Nov. 1. Visit marshallfarm.com for more info.
