By Chet Williamson Locking Leicester After more than a dozen cars were illegally entered, Leicester police are reminding residents to lock their cars overnight. Town Police Chief Jim Hurley said that around 2 a.m. on Monday, April 21, 17 cars had been rummaged through. “They only hit vehicles which were unlocked,” he stated. “None of the vehicles appeared to have sustained any damage.” While officers are still compiling reports, it appears that the preliminary list of stolen items is comprised of cash and tools. “More than likely whoever is responsible for this crime will be in another town tonight,” Hurley said. “Last year Leicester had three separate incidents where multiple car breaks occurred.” Anyone with any information pertaining to these thefts is asked to call the Leicester Police Department Crime tip hotline at 508 892 7010.
