FRIDAY Playing on the popularity of the plethora of forensic crime shows on TV these days, the folks at the Worcester Art Museum (55 Salisbury St.) don't want to be caught un-hip or left behind — though there's not much chance you'll see break-dancing in the galleries anytime soon. Still, give them credit for hosting their annual April Art Break, this year titled ASI: Art Scene Investigation. WAM invites kids through high school to join the world of mystery and discovery at the museum, by taking advantage of a selection of two-hour workshops and school-vacation-related activities. This year's "ASI" theme focuses on many secrets and mysteries within the museum, and offers the opportunity for kids to also create some art works of their own. For more information, call 508-799-4406, ext. 129. SATURDAY No, this isn't the "big" one, but any festival held for the betterment of the lives of companion animals is a good thing. The Becker College Animal Health Club (sounds like something out of Nancy Drew, doesn't it?) is sponsoring Pet Fest. The event will feature canine obedience and agility demonstrations, as well as tag sales, raffles and children's activities. Organizers want the event to promote responsible pet ownership and positive, relationship-driven dog training. Animal shelter representatives will also be on hand to take applications for and advocate on behalf of pet adoption. The Becker Animal health Club allows students the opportunity to pursue their interests while engaging the public in educational, animal-related events. For more information, call 774-354-0667.
SUNDAY We simply can't resist anything titled Champagne and Chocolate Reception. To be held at the Goddard House (1199 Main St.), this event is the opening reception for Mirror, Mirror on the Wall, an exhibit of works by local artists, which runs through May 27. View the show and enjoy decadent chocolate desserts, champagne and the equally decadent and sinfully indulgent sounds of Chet Williamson's Chromatic Swing. The event begins at 2 p.m. today — don't miss it!
