By Charlene Arsenault • What there is around is mighty and grand: The new Hanover Theatre for the Performing Arts is putting on a Worcester Performing Arts Extravaganza to honor and celebrate Worcester's diverse performing arts organizations. There are many, and this event gives a nice slice of each. Foothills Theatre, The New England Gospel Massachusetts Choir, The McInerney School of Irish Step Dance, Salsa Storm, Sonic Explorers, The Igwebuike Dancing Group, The Burncoat Dance Ensemble, The Worcester County Light Opera Company, The Nhu Thanh Lion Dance Team and The Massachusetts Symphony Orchestra all take part in the extravaganza, which is Thursday, March 27 at 7 p.m. and costs $20. Call 508-831-0800. • Help them build: The Blues and Rock Music Fest (how much more specific can you get than a title like that?) on Sunday, March 30, will help raise funds for the PACC Building Fund. Check out sets by B&E Electric, Almost Famous, Chris Prokop and Peter Towler from 1-4 p.m. There's no cover charge, but there's an all-you-can-eat spaghetti and meatball dinner, with salad, available for $8 per adult, $5 for kids under 12. Call 508-943-9716. • Club notes: On Thursday, hit Mill Street Brews in Southbridge for The Rover Rockfest to benefit local animal shelters. On Friday, Crimson Bile opens for White Chocolate at The Lucky Dog; Draw the Line does Aerosmith at JJ's in Northboro; Johnny A's always a good bet, at Gilrein's; the ever-powerful Roomful of Blues pounds The Bull Run in Shirley. On Saturday, Little Big Wheel's parking it again at the Sahara Café; Run and Gun sets up at The Blackstone Tap; Paul Della Valle opens for SloGrass at The Green Rooster; SPF-4 surfs into Vincent's; Uncle Billy's Smokehouse rocks The Galway Bay; and The Stymonsters return to Greendale's. The rhythmic force known as Pet Rock (pictured) heads back to Sakura Tokyo Friday and Saturday night. Sunday, Ed "Moose" Savage and his Litany of Complaints headline The Ship Room at Hotel Vernon on Sunday. We want to hear about it. All of it. The horrors. The stories. The music news.
