• Accidental disc: Built around bluegrass, Americana and folk, The Accident That Led Me to the World is a Webster-born trio that includes Mark Mandeville (songwriting, guitar, banjo, vocals), Zack Ciras (arrangement, bass, guitar, vocals) and Raianne Richards (arrangement, guitar, clarinet, vocals). It just put out Island Gospel, the follow-up to 2006's self-titled release. The Gospel, says Mandeville, is a continuation of the original theme, as The Accident That Led Me to the World is the story of a boy who sails off to an island, leaving society and its trappings behind. "The first record," Mandeville says, "attempted to describe the whys of this departure and specific scenes within the storyline. The new record is a lament in which the character realized that solitude is not entirely the answer." Recorded and produced by Jerry Fels, Mandeville says the new disc captures a "truer representation of our live sound." March 1 marks the start of a tour to promote the new album, and 27 dates are booked so far. "Each year, we become more focused in our attempts," says Mandeville. Visit theaccidentthatledmetotheworld.com/ for tour dates. Looks like the local one will be March 20 at The Q on Chandler Street.

• Just can't stay away: There's something in the Worcester air that apparently calls you home. Maybe it's the Main Street sausage man. Rockabilly hero Jason James took off for Nashville six months ago, and out there he did shows on piano, guitar and even drums for the Phil Hummer Band. He also spent some time at Sun Studios recording some piano songs. But he's back in town — most likely for good. "I love Worcester," says James. "I missed my band, too [bassist Bob Berry and drummer Kemp Dunn]. We're booking through the summer and we want to record a new CD and shop it around to some labels. We have some very supportive friends and fans in this area." James can be found this Friday at The Blue Plate Lounge in Holden, and every Sunday on the piano at Nick's. Wonder if Joe Giotta will eventually come back, too.

• Club notes: On Friday, The Curtain Society resurfaces, putting on an atypical show (you have to check out what Roger Lavallee's got in mind for this one) at The Hotel Vernon with Aloud; SexCoffee caffeinates Tammany Hall; Rich Scales and friends host a spring jam at The Grey Hound Pub; but some of his friends are across town, as Muck and The Mires hit Vincent's; Ed and Dave and their buddies jam at Greendale's. On Saturday, Travis Colby, from Roomful of Blues, is doing a solo thing on the piano at Nick's; James Montgomery blasts Gilrein's; Bill Staines folks the Green Rooster; The Silverbacks rock Creegan's Pub on Green Street; The Dinosaurs come back to The Blue Plate in Holden; Soulstice funks out Partner's Pub in Fitchburg; Uncle Billy's Smokehouse heads back to Greendale's; The Ed Melikian Mid East Jazz Ensemble fills Sahara with world vibes; Sean Fullerton's solo at McNally's in Westminster; and Seven Hill Psychos split the bill with Tester and Suckapunch at The Lucky Dog. Doctor Robert is undoubtedly a fave at Sakura Tokyo, coming in for both weekend nights. On Sunday, be sure to check out the St. Patrick's Day Parade, following it with a couple of Guinnesses in your local pub — in fact, Tammany Hall is putting on a nice after-party with Fergus and The Swaggerin' Growlers; And Cathy's Clown is at the Eagles Club in Leominster. o
