Brass knuckles

Shrewsbury Police arrested two Worcester natives after finding drugs and a semi-automatic weapon in a car. According to Lt. Alfred Pratt, the incident occurred last week during a routine traffic stop. The driver was Tricia Kirwin, 27. Her passenger was Jose Oliveras, 28. According to the SPD, Kirwin's registration had been revoked and the inspection sticker had been issued to another car. Officers found brass knuckles, nunchucks and the residue of cocaine on the console.

Upon further investigation, drug paraphernalia (scales), a Smith & Wesson handgun and a .380-caliber semi-automatic handgun, along with ammunition, were found in the trunk.

The arrest was covered in The Shrewsbury Chronicle which reported that both Kirwin and Oliveras were charged with a litany of counts, ranging from failure to wear a seatbelt to unlawful possession of a firearm. Oliveras also had an outstanding warrant. There were arraigned in Westboro District Court, released on $500 bail, and are due back in court in March.

Brute pizza

The Hudson Sun recently reported that a Worcester man, Jared Drew Chandler, 26, of 16 Corinth Dr., was arrested for assaulting his ex-girlfriend. According to local police, Chandler had been arguing with the woman in front of Checkerboard's Pizza Restaurant and Bar in Hudson. The argument turned physical. Police report that witnesses saw Chandler grab the woman and with "two hands around her throat, throw her to the ground." They also report that he then began kicking the woman in the head. Police say Chandler left the scene and was not found until the next day. According to the Sun, he was called at home and asked to come to the station where he was arrested and charged with assault. o
