Stories and comments from Worcester's Web diaries Compiled by Amanda Addeo • Posted by "Jeff" on wormtowntaxi.blogspot.com: I saw Gary Rosen setting up at the corner of Chandler and Park this morning. I came upon this so unexpectedly that all I could do was toot and wave. The next time I came up to that intersection, about an hour and a half later, I had the cellphone camera primed and ready ... No Gary Rosen. But there was the "Boycott Walgreen's" folks, camped out on the corner and ready for the photo-op. At issue with Walgreen's is the dispensing of "Plan-B", the morning after pill, by pharmacists who are anti-abortion advocates. Pharmicists employed by Walgreen's are required to dispense the drug .... • Posted on worcester.craigslist.org/rnr: Pats towing = lying cheating theifs. They stole one of my cars from a parking lot and charged me hundreds of dollars to get it back .... They are all low life losers ... cops are lazy. I mean ... the only job they can get is to drive a tow truck ... duh, not to bright are they ... most can't read, some are drop outs ....They messed with the wrong person .... I bet they like getting calls from me in the middle of the night for fake calls .... I will keep doing this forever.... • Posted by "Brendan Melican" on radioball.net: We can file this nicely into the ‘fuzzy math but kinda-sorta interesting' category. Walk Score will figure out, on a scale of 0-100, just how walkable your ‘hood is. Using my house as a starting point, Tatnuck Sq in Worcester, MA scored a relatively grim 23. According to them, that means Driving Only: Virtually no neighborhood destinations within walking range. You can walk from your house to your car! Not to far off. But what's most interesting is the expandable lists of nearby stuff, no surprises really, but I can see this sort of thing being a perfect deal maker/breaker for someone about to relocate .... • Posted by "Andy Martello" on andymartello.blogspot.com: This damned sprinkler system will be the death of me. I am a very intelligent man. I can read and follow instructions well. I am not without resources and abilities. That being said, this sprinkler system at our home, something that is supposed to only be on once a week, for a relatively short period of time, absolutely makes no sense to be. When it is supposed to be on, there's no water to be seen. When I follow the instructions on the thing, water comes out but doesn't shut off when programmed. Add to the mix that one of the hoses has decided to spring a leak and I am stuck with a sprinkler that I can't quite fix and certainly can't use. Were it not for the fact that A) this isn't technically my house, and B) there's a rather large pine tree in the front yard that would certainly fall onto our home with one good gust of desert wind if left un-watered I'd let all these damned plants die. They add nothing to the house and they use up a lot of the water. [SIGH!] I'll figure it all out. I just wish that the damned thing would simply do the 5 minutes or so worth of watering on its own as promised. I suppose I'll just water all the things myself and look all domestic. • Posted by "Rick Roberge" on therainmakermaker.com: I know that last night I said that my next post would be about how I choose whom to refer. However, I'm gonna slide this one in first. My blog ... My rules. I was driving to work this morning. Proceeding down Main Street in Holden, I had the green light at Route 31. As I entered the intersection, some idiot made a "right turn on red" right in front of me. I didn't hit them because the piece of garbage that they were driving would fit in my trunk. They never even looked. Don't they understand that "I" have the right of way. Don't they know that the rule is that they need to stop and look and if no one is coming, then they can make a right turn on red. The short answer is that they probably don't and if they do, they don't care because their car isn't worth squat. They probably have a crappy job. Don't own a house. Have no future and no hope. (How's that for exaggeration?) But seriously, I think it's safe to say that their standards as a driver aren't as high as mine. Here's the analogy. Good drivers have to be even better to protect themselves from the idiots. We have to anticipate, watch, be overly cautious because we never know when some person with a drivers license but no brain is gonna be aiming at us. Why is that allowed to happen? I've spent most of my career watching crappy salespeople lie to their prospects. Use stupid sales tricks that any prospect with a brain can see through. Over promise. Under deliver. Avoid answering questions. Pressure. etc. etc. etc. Every time one of these idiot salespeople is allowed to talk to a prospect, it makes our job more difficult.... • Posted on worcester.craigslist.org/rnr: McDonalds The other day I was sitting in my car & I watched as 2 boys walked by the sign that said: "NOW HIRING CLOSERS" They reached up & took down the letter "C" from the sign - It now said: "NOW HIRING LOSERS" Funniest thing ever ....o In true blog fashion, the spelling, grammar and punctuation of these selections are to the individual poster's tastes.
